The estate’s significance is evident in its Grade II* listed main house and Grade I listed parks and gardens, as well as other listed buildings such as the stable block and riding school. Together, these features highlight its extraordinary national heritage value.
Maybourne has a history of creating stories of distinction and unique experiences that reflect the individual nature of its properties, its guests and its people, whilst maintaining a timeless and intuitive service style that are the hallmarks of its values, with a proven record of carefully considering and genuinely valuing heritage features of their hotels.
The grand staircase at The Connaught dates back to the hotel’s original construction in 1897. It was designed as a statement feature, reflecting the Edwardian elegance and craftsmanship of the period. During the hotel’s restoration, the staircase was carefully refurbished to maintain its original character while complementing the refined style of the modernised interiors. Claridge’s art-deco ballroom, which over the years had been much adapted, has been meticulously restored to its former glory. These are just small examples of the skill and attention to detail shown by the teams working on restoration for Maybourne.
